Who is the little dog? Is this kid’s yoga? Do you teach yoga to dogs? These are some of the reactions that I get from my students or online inquiries — why did I name my yoga business Little Dog Yoga.
If you following me on Instagram, you have probably figured this all out by now. Our family dog, Buster, is the “little dog”. Buster came into our lives in 2009, a time when my two sons were midway through high school and according to me, has been busy teaching our family about the important aspects of daily life.
- Live in the moment.
- Be loyal and truthful.
- Always stretch first thing in the morning.
- Be forgiving and love unconditionally.
- Enjoy the ride.
Oh it’s not limited to just 5 things, there is such much more to living with and loving a four legged family member. So that’s it. When I decided to start my own yoga business I hired on the best qualified CEO to give me insight and direction on how to proceed — Buster.
Yoga is about being and accepting yourself, where ever you are in that moment – about adjusting the pose to your body and then surrendering to the moment and connecting to your breath – your life force. So to answer the question – do I teach yoga to dogs – the answer would be no. I feel that human beings stand to gain far more by observing them.
